Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Order cancels a previous regulation that placed special marketing and research requirements on Australian stone fruit (peaches and plums) exported to Taiwan.

What it does:

Removes the 2002 rules: The revoked Order had established specific controls under the Horticultural Marketing and Research and Development Services Act 2000 for how peaches and plums could be marketed to Taiwan, likely including research and development levies or quality controls.
Effective date: The cancellation takes effect on 1 January 2006.
Who made it: The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Why it matters: For Australian fruit growers and exporters, this means that from 1 January 2006, the specific regulatory framework and any associated charges for exporting peaches and plums to Taiwan under the 2002 Order will no longer apply. The industry will revert to standard export arrangements or other applicable regulations not covered by this revocation.
