Plain English Summary

What this does: Sets a fixed levy (a type of tax) on honey that is exported from Australia.

The charge: Exporters must pay 0.5 cents for every kilogram of honey they send overseas.

Who it affects: Honey exporters — anyone shipping Australian honey to international markets.

Why it matters: The money collected funds industry activities like marketing, research, and administration (historically managed by the Australian Honey Board). This is a standard way agricultural industries pool resources to promote their products globally.
