Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument revokes government approval for a specific vocational training company to offer student loans.

What it does It cancels the approval of Apprentices-Trainees-Employment Limited (ACN 002 369 557) as a VET provider under the Higher Education Support Act 2003. This removes the company's authority to offer VET FEE-HELP—a government loan scheme that allowed vocational students to study now and pay later through the tax system.

Who it affects

The company: Cannot enroll new students in loan-funded courses from 2 December 2016.
Students: New students cannot access government loans for courses with this provider. (Existing students are typically protected under transitional rules—referenced as subclause 39(2A)—allowing them to finish current studies under the old arrangement.)

Why it matters Revocation usually happens when a provider fails to meet financial, educational, or compliance standards. This action safeguards students from poor-quality training and protects public money from being wasted on inappropriate loans.
