Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This document officially approves Carrick Institute of Education Pty Ltd as a Vocational Education and Training (VET) provider under Commonwealth law.

Why it matters: Once approved, the institute can access federal funding schemes—such as allowing students to access income-contingent loans for vocational courses—under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA).

How it works:

The approval is granted by a senior public servant acting as a delegate (someone given legal authority to act on behalf of the Minister for Education)
It is a disallowable instrument, meaning either House of Parliament can vote to overturn the approval within a set timeframe
The approval takes effect the day after the disallowance period ends
The decision follows a formal application process required by the Act
