Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This determination sets strict annual spending caps on Commonwealth Scholarships for 2014–2017 (2014: $314.6m; 2015–2017: $313.9m), limiting federal payments for means-tested and Indigenous student awards. It affects eligible students, universities that administer the scholarships, and taxpayers by legally capping government budget exposure so total payouts cannot exceed the listed amounts in any year.
