This determination cancels a previous Medicare rule about genetic testing for cancer treatment.

It revokes the Health Insurance (Pharmacogenetic Testing – RAS (KRAS and NRAS)) Determination 2014, which had set out how Medicare would subsidise (pay for) specific genetic tests. These tests look for mutations in RAS genes (KRAS and NRAS) to help doctors work out whether certain cancer patients will benefit from particular targeted therapies.
