Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This law gives the Australian National University (ANU) Council the power to create rules governing the university's student accommodation (halls of residence).

Who it affects:

Students living in ANU residential halls
University staff managing these facilities
The ANU Council (the university's governing body)

Key points:

The Council can make rules about the management, discipline, and good order of student housing
It replaces an earlier version of the same law
Existing rules made under the old law remain valid and enforceable under this new version

Why it matters: This is the legal foundation that allows ANU to set house rules, codes of conduct, and disciplinary procedures for on-campus accommodation—essentially providing the framework for how students must behave in university housing and how the university can manage these communities.
