Protection of railway, Authority’s powers to construct works for Without in any way limiting the powers conferred by the *Public Works Act 1902*, the Authority may, from time to time, for the purpose of protecting any railway, or preventing or lessening any risk of damage thereto, construct, maintain, alter, or reconstruct any embankment, groin, or other protective work on any land or on the bank of any river or stream, or divert, impound, or take away the water of such river or stream or alter the course of the same; and may also discontinue or abandon any such work as and when it thinks fit.
