Tasmania regulation
These regulations expand what counts as “gas” under the Gas Industry Act by declaring biomethane, biogas, hydrogen, synthetic methane and their blends to be gas, and by defining biomethane and synthetic methane (regs 3–4). This brings producers, suppliers, network operators and regulators into the Act’s regulatory framework for those substances (reg 4). Producers and suppliers will face the Act’s compliance, permitting and safety rules and associated costs; regulators decide how the Act applies in individual cases (regs 2–4).
