144 Undisbursed jackpots (1) This section applies if an amount available for allocation as a prize in a linked-jackpot arrangement approved under section 134 or a multi- user permit has not been won, and cannot be won because the approval or permit for the arrangement has been cancelled or surrendered. Note A permit may be cancelled under pt 4 (see s 62). (2) The commission may approve an arrangement for the redistribution of the amount as a prize, or an addition to another jackpot, if satisfied that the arrangement is fair.
(3) However, the amount is a debt owing to the Territory if— (a) the person who held the approval or permit has stopped operating gaming machines; or (b) an approval under subsection (2) has not been given for an arrangement 4 weeks after the day the approval under section 134 or permit is cancelled or surrendered. (4) The commission must extend the 4-week period mentioned in subsection (3) (b) if satisfied that the extension is needed for a good reason. Note The commission may extend the period even if it has ended (see Legislation Act, s 151C).
