56Abandonment of proposals

#### 56 Abandonment of proposals (1) The Authority may abandon a proposal at any time before: (a) if the proposal results, or would result, in the development or variation of a standard—the draft standard or draft variation is approved; or (b) if the proposal results, or would result, in the development or variation of a code of practice—the draft code of practice or draft variation is approved. (2) However, if the Authority abandons a proposal after public notice has been given under section 58 or 75, the Authority must give public notice of the matters mentioned in subsection (3). (3) The notice must: (a) state that the Authority has decided to abandon the proposal; and (b) state how to obtain further information about the decision and the reasons for it.
