Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation removes (repeals) two previous sets of rules from 1993 that created special fees (levies) for fishing in the Southern Shark Fishery.

What it does:

Cancels Statutory Rules 1993 Nos. 71 and 302
Those old rules required commercial fishers in the Southern Shark Fishery to pay fees specifically to fund research about the fishery
Once repealed, those specific research levies no longer apply

Who it affects:

Commercial fishers and operators who were previously required to pay these Southern Shark Fishery research levies
The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (which collected the fees)

Why it matters: The government is removing this specific fee mechanism. Fishers in this fishery will no longer be charged these particular research levies, though other management arrangements or fees may still apply under different regulations.
