Commonwealth act
Creates a statutory levy on holders of fishing concessions (as defined by the Fisheries Management Act 1991, excluding foreign fishing licences). The levy amount is prescribed by regulation and is payable by the current holder when it becomes due (ss 3, 5–7). The Governor‑General may make regulations prescribing amounts and implementation details, so executive instruments set rates and administrative rules (s 8). The measure places collection costs and compliance burden on concession holders and vests rate‑setting discretion in regulations.
