Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does These Regulations tell the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) exactly what details it must record in its Register about fishing boats operating in the Southern Squid Jig Fishery.

Key requirement

When someone holds a statutory fishing right (called a "gear SFR") for this fishery and nominates a boat to use under that right, AFMA must enter two things in the Register:
1. The boat's name; and
2. Any official distinguishing symbol (like a registration mark or number) issued by AFMA or a State/Territory authority.

Who it affects

Commercial fishers who hold squid jig fishing rights (SFRs).
Boat owners whose vessels are nominated to operate under those rights.

Context These rules operate under the Fisheries Management Act 1991 and the Southern Squid Jig Fishery Management Plan 2005. Terms like "gear SFR" and "nominated boat" aren't defined here—they take their meaning from that Management Plan.
