12 Restrictions on the use of bottom trawling gear in high seas areas of the Convention Area

12.1 A person using a boat in the Convention Area for fishing must not use bottom trawling gear in the high‑seas areas of the Convention Area unless Conservation Measures allow the use of bottom trawling gear. 12.2 A person is not required to comply with subclause 12.1 if the fishing is conducted for scientific research purposes that are carried out in accordance with CCAMLR Conservation Measure 24‑01, as given effect by clause 14.
