141 Protection for participating dealers generally
> > (1) A participating dealer is exempt from section 51A (Restrictions on acquiring firearms) of the Act in respect of a firearm surrendered to the participating dealer under this Part.
>
> > (2) A participating dealer who comes into possession of any of the following items that have been surrendered is exempt from the possession restrictions of the Act in respect of the items while complying with any directions of the Commissioner as to how a participating dealer must deal with such items—
> >
> > > (a) an unregistered firearm,
> >
> > > (b) a related article that is for a firearm to which the dealer’s firearms dealer licence does not apply.
>
> > (3) An exemption under this clause applies only if the participating dealer acquires and possesses the firearm or related article in good faith for the purposes of this Part.
