37 Minister’s guidelines
(1) The Minister may make guidelines for this Act.
(2) The Minister may make guidelines about the making of the following
decisions by the registrar:
(a) a decision about the public interest under section 18 (1) (c)
(Assessing suitability of individuals—discretionary criteria);
(b) a decision under section 20 (Approval of courses etc by
registrar);
(c) a decision under section 31 (Firearms declarations by registrar);
(d) a decision under this Act whether it is in the public interest to—
(i) issue a licence; or
(ii) put a condition on a licence; or
(iii) suspend a licence;
(e) a decision about an authorisation under any of the following
(i) section 39 (Authorised instructors and club members);
(ii) section 73 (1) (e) (Adult firearms licences—conditions);
(iii) section 94 (1) (b) (Minors firearms licences—conditions);
(iv) section 116 (1) (f) (Composite entity firearms licences—
conditions);
(v) section 130 (1) (e) (Temporary international firearms
licences—conditions);
(vi) section 244 (Offence—sale of ammunition by licensed
firearms dealers);
(vii) section 245 (Offence—sale of ammunition by authorised
club members);
(viii) section 248 (Offence—acquiring ammunition);
(ix) section 252 (Offences—defacing, altering and removing
identification marks);
(f) a decision about an approval under any of the following
(i) section 221 (Discharge etc of firearm—public places etc);
(ii) section 222 (1) (b) (Discharge of firearm—general);
(iii) section 250 (Modification of firearms).
(3) The registrar must comply with any guidelines about the making of
decisions by the registrar.
(4) Also, the Minister may make guidelines about the following:
(a) the safe storage of firearms on premises;
(b) making firearms inoperable;
(c) the operation of shooting ranges;
(d) the operation of paintball ranges;
(e) the correction of records required to be kept by licensed firearms
dealers under this Act.
(5) A guideline is a disallowable instrument.
