29 Unregulated firearms—review of decision to seize
(1) The registrar must review each seizure under section 25 (Unregulated
firearms—seizure by police) and order the return of the thing to the
person from whom it was seized if—
(a) when seized, the thing was not—
(i) an unregulated firearm; or
(ii) a prohibited firearm; or
(b) within 30 days after the day of seizure, the thing is not a
prohibited firearm; or
(c) the registrar has no reasonable grounds to believe that the thing
is connected with an offence against any of the following:
(i) this Act;
(ii) the Prohibited Weapons Act 1996;
(iii) the Crimes Act 1900;
(iv) the Criminal Code;
(v) another law prescribed by regulation.
(2) If a thing is ordered to be returned under subsection (1) to the person
from whom it was seized, but it cannot be returned, the Territory must
pay reasonable compensation to the owner of the thing for its loss.
