228 Offence—unauthorised manufacture of firearms (1) A person commits an offence if the person manufactures, or takes part in the manufacture of, a firearm. (a) if the firearm is a prohibited firearm—1 500 penalty units, imprisonment for 20 years or both; or (b) if the firearm is not a prohibited firearm—1 000 penalty units, imprisonment for 10 years or both. (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person if the person is authorised by a firearms dealer licence to manufacture the firearm. manufacture, a firearm, includes assemble a firearm from firearm parts. takes part—a person takes part in the manufacture of a firearm if the process of the manufacture; or
