### 63 Restrictions on lighting fires
> *\[Section 63 Amended by No. 101 of 1993, s. 4 and Sched. 1 \]**\[Section 63 Amended by No. 29 of 1995, s. 48 \]**\[Section 63 Amended by No. 63 of 1996, s. 4 \]*Without limiting [section 66](#GS66@EN) , a person shall not, during a fire permit period, light or cause to be lit, or maintain or use, a fire in the open air on any land for the purpose, or that is likely to have the effect, of clearing vegetation from that land or for a similar purpose unless that person takes all reasonable precautions to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining land, and observes such precautions as are determined by the Commission and as may be required by a brigade chief or other officer of the Fire Service.
