sec.44 Power to require production of certain documents
The registrar may, by written notice given to a person, require the person to produce for inspection by an inspector a document issued, or required to be kept, under this Act. The person must comply with the requirement, unless the person has a reasonable excuse. Maximum penalty—400 penalty units. An inspector to whom a document is produced may keep the document to make a copy of it. If the inspector copies it, the inspector may require the person responsible for keeping the document to certify the copy as a true copy of the document. The person must certify the copy, unless the person has a reasonable excuse. Maximum penalty—80 penalty units. The inspector must return the document to the person as soon as practicable after making the copy. It is a reasonable excuse for a person to fail to produce a document or certify a copy of a document, if complying with the requirement may tend to incriminate the person. s 44 amd 1999 No. 27 s 76 sch 1 pt 2 (sec.44-ssec.1) The registrar may, by written notice given to a person, require the person to produce for inspection by an inspector a document issued, or required to be kept, under this Act.
