Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation removes cuts to war pensions that were imposed during the Great Depression.

During the economic crisis of the 1930s, the government used "Financial Emergency" powers to temporarily reduce pension payments to veterans and their families. This 1933 regulation repeals (cancels) those earlier austerity rules, effectively restoring full pension entitlements.

Who it affects:

Veterans receiving war pensions
Widows and dependents of deceased soldiers

Key points:

The repeal took effect retrospectively from 2 November 1933 (even though signed later in the month)
It ends the temporary pension reductions imposed under the Financial Emergency Act 1931-1933
Pensioners would once again receive their full payments without emergency deductions
