6 Object of Act

The object of this Act is to facilitate, in accordance with Commonwealth Government policy, the transfer of assets and liabilities from certain subsidiaries of a foreign corporation that is: (a) an eligible foreign ADI; or (b) the holding company (within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001) of an eligible foreign ADI or of a newly established local ADI; to the foreign corporation or one of the subsidiaries referred to in paragraph (b) (as the case may be) if the assets and liabilities are reasonably required to be so transferred for the proper organisation of the activities in Australia of the transferring corporation and the receiving corporation, following the grant of an ADI authority to the receiving corporation.
