What it does This regulation sets the pay rates for members of the Federal Capital Commission—the body responsible for developing Canberra during the 1920s.

Who it affects Members of the Federal Capital Commission (but not the Chairman, whose pay was set elsewhere).

The payment structure

Annual retainer: £750 per year for each member
Meeting attendance: 5 guineas per day (a guinea was worth £1 and 1 shilling, or 21 shillings total) for attending Commission meetings
Travel: 5 guineas per day for time spent away from home on official Commission business approved by the Commission

Why it matters This established how the officials overseeing the construction of Australia's capital city were compensated during Canberra's early development phase, ensuring they received both a base retainer and additional payments for active duties.
