Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document is a commencement proclamation—a formal announcement by the Governor‑General that activates specific sections of the Farm Household Support Act 2014.

What it does:

Sets 1 July 2014 as the date when sections 3 to 89 of the Farm Household Support Act 2014 come into legal force.
These sections contain the substantive rules for the Farm Household Support scheme (financial assistance and income support for farming families in hardship).

Why it matters: Parliament can pass a law, but it doesn't automatically take effect. This proclamation acts as the 'on switch,' ensuring the support scheme becomes legally operational on the specified date. Without this document, those sections would remain dormant.
