37Appointment

#### 37 Appointment (1) The Independent Assessor is to be appointed by the Governor‑General by written instrument. (2) The appointment is to be on a part‑time basis. (3) Before the Governor‑General appoints a person as the Independent Assessor, the Minister must be satisfied that the person: (a) has suitable qualifications or experience; and (b) is of good character. (4) The Independent Assessor holds office for the period specified in the instrument of appointment. The period must not exceed 5 years. (5) The Independent Assessor holds office on the terms and conditions (if any) in relation to matters not covered by this Act that are determined by the Governor‑General.
