36 The net abatement amount, A
(1) For the purposes of paragraph 106(1)(c) of the Act, the net abatement amount for a reporting period, in tonnes CO2‑e, is, subject to subsection (2), given by the following equation:
where:
A is the net abatement amount for a project area for a reporting period.
y is a calendar year that ends during the reporting period.
N is the number of calendar years that end during the reporting period (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5).
AEA,adj,y is the adjusted contribution to the net abatement amount from emissions avoidance for calendar year y, in tonnes CO2‑e, and:
(a) is calculated using SavCAM; or
(b) is given by the amount AEA,adj as calculated for calendar year y in accordance with Schedule 1.
Note: For the purposes of paragraph (b), see section 2 of Schedule 1.
ASeq,adj,y is the adjusted contribution to the net abatement amount from sequestration of carbon in living biomass or dead organic matter for calendar year y, in tonnes CO2‑e, and:
- is calculated using SavCAM; or
- is given by the amount ASeq,adj as calculated for calendar year y in accordance with Schedule 2.
Note: For the purposes of paragraph (b), see section 2 of Schedule 2.
Adjustments to calculations—multiple project areas
(2) If a project includes more than one project area, the net abatement amount for the project is ascertained by:
(a) calculating a value of A in tonnes CO2‑e in accordance with equation 1 for each project area individually; and
(b) summing the values so calculated.
