15 Requirement to maintain vegetation fuel types
- A project area for a savanna sequestration project must include an area of land that contains a vegetation fuel type at the relevant date.
- After the relevant date, a project area must continue to include an area of land that contains a vegetation fuel type.
- If, at any time after the relevant date, there is a change that results in a significant portion of land in the project area becoming classified as ineligible according to the Technical Guidance Document for the 2026 Savanna Fire Management Methods, that significant portion of land may be removed from the project in accordance with the CFI Rules.
Note: To effect the removal, the project proponent must make a section 29 application in respect of the project area in accordance with the CFI Rules. To remove part of a project area from the project, the project area must first be subdivided so that the area to be removed now constitutes the whole of a (smaller) project area.
- In this section:
relevant date means the date of the section 22 application, section 29 application or section 128 application in relation to the project in which the project area is first identified.
significant portion of land means a contiguous area of land in the project area that is larger than 5% of the total area of the project area or larger than 50 hectares.
