This determination sets the exact weight of tuna that each fishing quota unit represents for the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery.
What it does
Why this matters Commercial fishers hold statutory fishing rights (quota units) that allow them to catch tuna. This instrument tells them exactly how many kilograms of living tuna each unit equals. For example, if a fisher holds 1,000 quota units, they can catch approximately 1,158 kilograms of Southern Bluefin Tuna during these seasons.
Who it affects
The instrument automatically expires on 1 December 2020.
