This instrument is the official list of occupations Australia recognises for skilled migration. It names which jobs qualify, the points value assigned to each occupation, and which assessing authority must verify qualifications. It applies to General Skilled Migration applicants (and included family) and to different applicant cohorts under varying rules. It matters because being listed — and the occupation’s points — determine whether you can claim occupation points and meet visa eligibility.
