Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This ministerial update revises which Australian states and territories will accept financial responsibility for health care costs so certain permanent employer‑sponsored visa applicants (subclasses 846, 855, 856, 857) with otherwise disqualifying medical conditions can receive a health waiver.
It adds ACT, Victoria, WA, Northern Territory, Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia as participating jurisdictions; New South Wales is not included, so NSW‑sponsored applicants remain unable to access this waiver.
