This Ministerial Instrument updates and replaces the 2009 list of travel agents approved to organise tours for Chinese citizens applying for Australian tourist visas. It names 140 approved agents split between 52 Australian-based firms and 88 China-based firms.
Why it matters: Chinese tourists applying under the organised‑tour visa stream must use an agent on this official list to qualify for that stream and its streamlined processing.

I, CHRIS EVANS, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under subparagraph 1218(1)(b)(iii) of Schedule 1 of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’):
REVOKE the Instrument IMMI 09/085 specifying travel agents for the purposes of subparagraph 1218(1)(b)(iii) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations; and
SPECIFY the travel agents listed in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Instrument as travel agents for the purposes of subparagraph 1218(1)(b)(iii) of Schedule 1 to the Regulations.
This Instrument, IMMI 09/096, commences on 15 August 2009.
