This document approves an extra $6,000 in funding for the Joint House Department (the parliamentary agency that runs dining rooms, gardens, and building services for Parliament). The money is drawn from a contingency fund controlled by the Presiding Officers (the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate) under the Appropriation (Parliamentary Departments) Act 1999-2000.
What it does:
Why it matters: This is a routine administrative adjustment to parliamentary budgets. It allows Parliament to manage its own internal funding flexibly rather than waiting for a new Appropriation Bill every time a small budget overrun or new need arises.
