#### 9‑17 Circumstances in which assessment may be required or permitted
For the purposes of subsection 277(2) of the Act, the Secretary may require or permit an assessment of prescribed poultry meat or poultry meat products to be carried out by an assessor who is an authorised officer at any stage of operations to prepare the poultry meat or poultry meat products for export if the Secretary considers it is necessary to ensure that one or more objects of the Act will be met in relation to the poultry meat or poultry meat products.
> Note: For assessor, see section 12 of the Act. For an assessment of prescribed poultry meat or poultry meat products, the assessor is an authorised officer whose functions and powers include carrying out assessments of prescribed poultry meat or poultry meat products under Part 2 of Chapter 9 of the Act.
