#### 8‑24 Alteration of and interference with official marks
A person may alter, or interfere with, an official mark (whether or not it has been applied to any poultry meat or poultry meat products) only if:
(a) the alteration or interference is required or permitted by this instrument; or
(b) the person is an authorised officer or a person acting in accordance with a direction given by an authorised officer; or
(c) the person is designated in an approved arrangement as a person who may alter or interfere with an official mark and the alteration or interference is in accordance with the arrangement; or
(d) the Secretary has given the person a written approval to alter or interfere with an official mark at a specified registered establishment and in relation to specified poultry meat or poultry meat products, and the alteration or interference is in accordance with the approval.

> Note 2: A person may commit an offence or be liable to a civil penalty if the person engages in conduct and the conduct has the result that an official mark applied to certain poultry meat or poultry meat products or documents is altered so as to be false, misleading or deceptive (see sections 261 and 262 of the Act).
