5‑23 Container system units and food carrying compartments of vehicles—construction etc.

(1) Container system units and the food carrying compartments of vehicles used to transport prescribed eggs or egg products must be constructed: (a) to protect the eggs or egg products if there is a likelihood of their being contaminated during transport; and (b) so that they can be effectively cleaned. (2) The food contact surfaces of container system units and food carrying compartments must be able to be easily and effectively cleaned and, if necessary, sanitised if there is a risk they may cause contamination of prescribed eggs or egg products. (3) The food contact surfaces of container system units and food carrying compartments must be effectively constructed, insulated and equipped to maintain prescribed eggs or egg products at the temperatures required by this Part. (4) However, a food carrying compartment need not meet the requirements referred to in subsection (1) or (3) if the eggs or egg products are transported in a container system unit that meets the requirements.
