#### 143 Development standards for building work involving alteration of existing building 143 Development standards for building work involving alteration of existing building > > (1) The development standards applicable to complying development that involves the alteration of an existing building include the following requirements— > > > > > (a) if the building work involves the reconfiguration of an internal part of the building that will be occupied—on completion of the building work, the building will contain measures that are adequate, if there is a fire, to facilitate the safe egress of persons from the reconfigured part of the building, > > > > > (b) the fire protection and structural capacity of the building will, on completion of the building work, not be reduced. > > > (2) This section does not apply to development in connection with a change of building use for an existing building.
