#### 142 Development standards for change of building use 142 Development standards for change of building use > The development standards applicable to complying development that involves a change of building use for an existing building include the following requirements— > > > (a) the building will, whether or not any building work is carried out— > > > > > (i) contain measures that are adequate, if there is a fire, to facilitate the safe egress of persons from the part of the building affected by the change of building use, and > > > > > (ii) comply with the Category 1 fire safety provisions that apply to the proposed use, > > > (b) the fire protection and structural capacity of the building will, on completion of the building work, be appropriate to the proposed use.
