Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

These Regulations identify which Northern Territory statutes are treated as "environmental offences" under the Environmental Offences and Penalties Act. By listing specific Acts (water, waste, pollution, pipelines, geothermal, weeds, nuclear transport and similar areas) the instrument determines which breaches attract the Act’s penalty processes.

Businesses and individuals regulated by the listed Acts face the Act’s enforcement and penalty regime; government enforcement agencies administer it. The list is updated by later amending Acts, so coverage changes over time.
