Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document formally cancels (revokes) a 1987 declaration that created a "Conservation Zone" in the Kakadu area.

Back in 1987, under older environmental laws, this zone was established as a temporary protective status for land while its long-term arrangements were being finalized. Twenty years later, this proclamation removes that specific zone status.

What this means:

This is essentially a housekeeping measure—cleaning up outdated legal classifications
The land itself doesn't change ownership; this simply removes an old administrative label
The area likely transitions to being managed under current arrangements (such as incorporation into Kakadu National Park) rather than the temporary "Conservation Zone" status
It operates under section 390J of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to revoke the earlier proclamation made under the old National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1975
