61 Purpose of environmental approval The purpose of an environmental approval is to manage the potentially significant environmental impacts of an action or any action under a strategic proposal including any of the following: (a) the planning and design of the action and any preliminary activities relating to the action; (b) the construction or carrying out of works for the action; (c) the operation of the action; (d) the rehabilitation and remediation requirements resulting from the action; (e) the closure of the action.
