52 Period of authorisation
(1) Environmental authorisations may be granted for the following
periods:
(a) for a standard environmental authorisation or an accredited
(i) an unlimited period; or
(ii) a specified period of not longer than 3 years;
(b) for a special environmental authorisation—a specified period of
not longer than 3 years.
(2) A standard environmental authorisation or accredited environmental
authorisation granted for an unlimited period—
(a) takes effect on the day after the day when—
(i) if the annual fee under section 53 for the first year of the
authorisation is payable by instalments—the first
instalment is paid; or
(ii) if the annual fee under section 53 for the first year of the
authorisation is payable as a lump sum—the fee is paid;
and
(b) has effect until—
(i) the authorisation is cancelled under section 55 or
section 63; or
(ii) the authorisation is surrendered under section 66.
(3) An environmental authorisation granted for a specified period—
(a) takes effect on the day after the day when—
(i) if the whole of period fee under section 53 for the
authorisation is payable by instalments—the first
instalment is paid; or
(ii) if the whole of period fee under section 53 for the
authorisation is payable as a lump sum—the fee is paid;
and
(b) has effect until—
(i) the end of the period specified in the authorisation; or
(ii) the authorisation is cancelled under section 55 or
section 63; or
(iii) the authorisation is surrendered under section 66.
