### 39 Medical practitioner must accept or refuse to accept referral
> A medical practitioner to whom a person is referred under [section 37(1)](#GS37@Gs1@EN) by a PMP in relation to the person must, within 48 hours, by notice in writing to the PMP –

> > > (a) accept the referral; or
> >
> > > (b) refuse to accept the referral.
