#### 3 Objects 3 Objects > The objects of this Act are— > > > (a) to promote the efficient and environmentally responsible production and use of electricity and to deliver a safe and reliable supply of electricity, and > > > > Note. > > > > Customer choice and rights in relation to electricity connections and electricity supply are provided for by the [National Energy Retail Law (NSW)](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2012-37a). > > > (b) to confer on network operators such powers as are necessary to enable them to construct, operate, repair and maintain their electricity works, and > > > (c) to facilitate and support the efficient and timely investment in electricity infrastructure under the [Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2020-044), and > > > (d) to promote and encourage the safety of persons and property in relation to the generation, transmission, distribution and use of electricity, and > > > (e) to ensure that any significant disruption to the supply of electricity in an emergency is managed effectively. > > **s 3:** Am 1997 No 20, Sch 1.3 \[2\] \[3\]; 2004 No 4, Sch 2 \[1\]; 2012 No 38, Sch 1 \[1\] \[2\]; 2017 No 59, Sch 1 \[2\]; 2025 No 80, Sch 2\[1\].
