sec.273 Further tests for registered system
This section applies to a cathodic protection system that is a registered system. The owner of the registered system must perform interference tests on all foreign structures for the system— when an anode forming part of the system is replaced; and if required by the regulator—when the system, or its method of operation, is changed. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units. Subsection (4) applies if— an anode forming part of the registered system is immersed in water or a marine environment; and the anode is redesigned, causing it to be relocated or to become subject to variation in anode current distribution. The owner of the registered system must, as soon as practicable after the anode is redesigned, retest the system to ensure the potential difference between any 2 accessible points spaced 1m apart in the water or marine environment is not more than 3V when the system is energised. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units. If, when interference tests are being performed, there is a foreign structure for the registered system for which interference tests have not previously been performed, the owner of the system must— arrange with the foreign structure owner a mutually acceptable time for performing the tests; and allow the foreign structure owner to observe the performance of the tests. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units. (sec.273-ssec.1) This section applies to a cathodic protection system that is a registered system. (sec.273-ssec.2) The owner of the registered system must perform interference tests on all foreign structures for the system— when an anode forming part of the system is replaced; and if required by the regulator—when the system, or its method of operation, is changed. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units. (sec.273-ssec.3) Subsection (4) applies if— an anode forming part of the registered system is immersed in water or a marine environment; and the anode is redesigned, causing it to be relocated or to become subject to variation in anode current distribution. (sec.273-ssec.4) The owner of the registered system must, as soon as practicable after the anode is redesigned, retest the system to ensure the potential difference between any 2 accessible points spaced 1m apart in the water or marine environment is not more than 3V when the system is energised. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units. (sec.273-ssec.5) If, when interference tests are being performed, there is a foreign structure for the registered system for which interference tests have not previously been performed, the owner of the system must— arrange with the foreign structure owner a mutually acceptable time for performing the tests; and allow the foreign structure owner to observe the performance of the tests. Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
