19Disclosure of roll information

19 Disclosure of roll information (1) This section applies to a person who is or has been: (a) the Commissioner; or (b) an officer; or (c) a member of the staff of the Commission. (2) The person must not directly or indirectly do any of the following: (a) make a record of, or communicate to another person, information acquired by the person because of the person's involvement in the administration of this Act; (b) give another person, or permit another person to have access to a copy of a roll, a roll extract, information contained on a roll or another document given to the person for the administration of this Act. (3) Subsection (2) does not apply: (a) to the extent it is necessary for the person to do the thing: (i) for this Act; or Electoral Act 2004 18 (ii) for the proper conduct of an election under the Local Government Act 2019; or (b) if the person is authorised or required by law to do the thing.
