186 Transitional provisions
(1) If, immediately before the commencement of thisAct, proceedings in respect of which the Electoral Commissioner was a party were pending or existing in any court or tribunal, then, on and after that commencement, the Commission is substituted for the Electoral Commissioner as a party to the proceedings and has the same rights and obligations in the proceedings as the Electoral Commissioner had.
(2) On and after the commencement of this Act, anyreference in any Act (other than this Act), regulation, subordinate instrument or other document whatsoever to—
(a) the Electoral Commissioner is to be construed as a reference to the Commission, unless the contrary intention appears; or
(b) **The Constitution Act Amendment Act 1958** is to be construed as a reference tothis Act, unless the contrary intention appears.
