174 Powers of election manager and election official (1) Any election manager or election official has the power and authority— (a) to maintain order and keep the peace at any election or voting at a voting centre; and (b) to cause to be removed any person who— (i) obstructs the approaches to a voting centre; or (ii) wilfully or unnecessarily obstructs or delays the proceedings at a voting centre; or (iii) behaves in a disorderly manner; or (iv) remains in a voting centre for a longer time than is reasonably necessary for the purpose of voting; or (v) causes a disturbance at any election. S. 174(2) amended by No. 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 50.3). (2) Police officers must aid and assist an election manager or election official in the exercise of the powers conferred by this section.
