255 Acting chief executive officer (1) The Board may appoint a person to act as the chief executive officer— (a) during any vacancy in the office of chief executive officer; or (b) during any period that the chief executive officer— (i) is absent from duty; or (ii) is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of that office. (2) The period of the acting appointment must not exceed 6 months.
