270C Exemption for heavy vehicle trailers
> > (1) Duty under this Chapter is not chargeable on an application to register a heavy vehicle trailer if—
> >
> > > (a) the heavy vehicle trailer has not previously been registered under the [Road Transport Act 2013](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2013-018), the [Interstate Road Transport Act 1985](http://www.legislation.gov.au/) of the Commonwealth or a law of another State or a Territory that provides for the registration of motor vehicles, or
> >
> > > (b) the heavy vehicle trailer is or has been registered in the name of the person making the application under the [Interstate Road Transport Act 1985](http://www.legislation.gov.au/) of the Commonwealth or a law of another State or a Territory that provides for the registration of motor vehicles.

> > (2) In this section, a heavy vehicle trailer means a trailer within the meaning of the [Road Transport Act 2013](/view/html/inforce/current/act-2013-018) that is a heavy vehicle within the meaning of that Act.
